I’d like to introduce you all to my dog Dewey. He’s the best dog in the world of course and I love to take him everywhere I go. Bike rides proved to be difficult with Dewey however. I couldn’t really get him to run along side me as I rode. I always felt like he was a little unsafe and that I could potentially run over him. So that wasn’t going to work. My next thought was to somehow get him on the bike with me. I looked into a dog bike basket like this one for him but I think he’s just too big for it. I found this bike trailer that could potentially work but it was so lame and boring. Finally I decided that I needed a cool and functional sidecar for Dewey. However, I couldn’t find any on the market to buy so I decided to build one!
I’m really proud of the finished project! I think it looks awesome and it works great. I was able to build it solidly without any welding and it removes in just a few seconds without the need for any tools. Click here if you’d like step-by-step instructions on how I built it.
Dewey loves riding in the sidecar as well. It’s nice to have him right next to me where I can see that he’s safe and having a good time. And we always get a lot of stares and thumbs up whenever we ride this thing around town.
