I’ve been doing this for years and I’ve had a few different people stop me and mention what a great idea it is. So I decided to write a quick blog post about it even though it’s stupid easy to do. It’s a way to stabilize your GoPro shots using an expandable pole which most owners already own. This is the one that I have.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Extend the pole out so it’s about 18″ long. Make sure the skinniest section is exposed so most of the weight is towards the bottom.
  2. Lightly grip the pole directly underneath the GoPro mount. Grip it between your thumb and index finger.
  3. Add some weight to the bottom if you think you need it. The wrist strap allows you to basically attach anything you wish. A stapler, a mug, a helmet; anything!

That’s it! 3 steps and you have a stabilizer anywhere you go. Other stabilizers work great too but I don’t want to carry around more equipment. I have enough mounts and straps to keep track of. This allows me to stabilize my shots wherever I am.
