I’ve been doing this for years and I’ve had a few different people stop me and mention what a great idea it is. So I decided to write a quick blog post about it even though it’s stupid easy to do. It’s a way to stabilize your GoPro shots using an expandable pole which most owners already own. This is the one that I have.
Here’s how to do it:
- Extend the pole out so it’s about 18″ long. Make sure the skinniest section is exposed so most of the weight is towards the bottom.
- Lightly grip the pole directly underneath the GoPro mount. Grip it between your thumb and index finger.
- Add some weight to the bottom if you think you need it. The wrist strap allows you to basically attach anything you wish. A stapler, a mug, a helmet; anything!
That’s it! 3 steps and you have a stabilizer anywhere you go. Other stabilizers work great too but I don’t want to carry around more equipment. I have enough mounts and straps to keep track of. This allows me to stabilize my shots wherever I am.
